Join Us for One Last Great Football Appreciation Banquet

Your enthusiastic and generous support over the past 50+ years for the OSU Alumni Club of Greater Cleveland’s Football Appreciation Banquet and the scholarship fund it benefits is much appreciated. This event has helped our club send the best and brightest from Northeast Ohio off to help “make Ohio State great.” We’ve made a difference in the lives of many students.

It is with sadness that we announce that the 57th Football Appreciation Banquet, scheduled for November 25, 2008, will be the last. Policy changes at the OSU Alumni Association and the OSU Athletic Department, coupled with the upcoming shift in the football schedule and increasing scrutiny from the NCAA, mean that our major scholarship fundraising event cannot continue in its current format.

The events committee is working hard on developing a new fundraising event where Northeast Ohio Buckeyes can show their pride and spirit and “pay it forward” to the next generation of Buckeyes. In the meantime, we’re asking you to help make this final football banquet and silent auction a rousing success by making your reservations now.

Let’s go out with a big Buckeye bang!

Happy Birthday, Joe Russo!

From Duane Smith, our local alumni band coordinator:

We got a last minute request last week for our alumni band to play at a 90th birthday party.

The family of Joe Russo held their birthday celebration at Walton Hills Lake (near Bedford) with about 50 in attendance. My contact came in from California & in her attempts to find a band had a suggestion from another family member in Columbus to have the OSU Alumni Band. TBDBITL in Columbus passed along my name & phone#.

Any way, that’s the short version.

On such short notice, I was still able to assemble a band of six along with our own ‘Brutus.’ In return for our performance, a donation of $400 was made to our Scholarship Fund.

It’s nice to have fans that want to include us in the special events.
